Colmar is a city of surprises. One of them is waiting for you in the very center, in the building of the 13th century Dominican monastery, where the Unterlinden art museum is now located. The Unterlinden Museum offers a broad panorama of the history of art and civilization. The section of archeology allows us to trace the development of the technique of making objects: from polished stone tools of the Neolithic period to jewelry of the Bronze and Iron Ages.

The fate of this master in the history of art is unique: his name is familiar to few - but perhaps everyone knows the main work of Bartholdi. And you, having crossed the threshold of this old house, will involuntarily stop, amazed that it was here in the silence of the Alsatian city that the creator of the world famous Statue of Liberty was born and lived, proudly holding its torch above the skyscrapers of New York.

And Little Venice? The quarter is unique in its beauty, with its canals, along which boats, driven by real gondoliers, lively scurry. It existed outside the fortress wall since 1209, but it was included in the city only from 1250.
